Super Sugar Snap Pea (Pole)
An outstanding edible pod pea. An all-American gold medal winner. Superb, thick, edible pods are crisp, tender and very sweet. Shelled peas are also of excellent quality. Approximately 70 days to maturity
SOWING: Sow directly into the garden as soon as soil is workable in early spring. For continual harvest make successive plantings at 3-week intervals until mid spring. Sow seeds 2 inches apart in rows. Cover with 1 inch of soil.
SPACING: Leave 2 to 2 1/2 feet between rows; slightly closer if limited for space.
GERMINATION: Completely dependent upon outdoor temperatures and soil warmth. Usually 1 to 2 weeks.
One of the finest edible pod peas ever developed. Very good raw or in salads. For best cooking results stir-fry or steam about 2 minutes. Pods are suitable for freezing but not canning. Strip out string in the pod. Provide string or trellis support when vines are 3 to 6 inches tall. We think this is unquestionably the best of its type.
SEED SAVING: Allow pods to dry completely before removing them from the plant. Store seeds in cool, dry place.
